Ireland won 31 points in the televote (with 7 points coming from both the United Kingdom and Australia televotes), finishing in 14th place (out of 18 countries) in the televote overall (which was won by Ukraine on 152 points). Ireland won 15 points in the jury vote (with 4 points coming from the Danish jury), finishing in 17th place (out of 18 countries) in the jury vote overall (which was won by Australia on 188 points). Ireland had an average ranking of 12.6 across the twenty (other) voting juries in this semi-final, while Ireland had an average ranking of 11.0 across the twenty (other) televotes in this semi-final. (Had the results of this semi-final been solely based on the televote, Belarus and FYR Macedonia would have qualified in place of Israel and Georgia. Had the results of this semi-final been solely based on the jury vote, Slovenia would have qualified in place of Poland.)

** As reported on the WiwiBloggs site (16th May 2016), one of the Danish jury members made a mistake with her rankings accidentally giving her highest rankings to her least favourite acts, and the lowest rankings to her favourite acts. Ironically, she should have given her highest ranking to Ireland’s Nicky Byrne, but the mistake meant that he, instead, got her lowest ranking. If this mistake had not occurred, he would have been ranked 3rd by the Denmark jury (instead of 7th) and got 8 points, instead of 4 points. This would have left Ireland on 50 points overall, but would not have been enough to make up the gap on 14th placed Slovenia (who would have remained on 57 points.)
